According to my mom, while they were growing up my grandma would bake homemade bread on Mondays. So, late this afternoon, I gave it a shot.

It's a time-consuming process that involved a lot of waiting around. While waiting to let the bread to rise, I was able to work - doing emails and catching up because I didn't take an office day last week.

Ingredients: flour, water, salt, an egg and yeast.



Mix. Let rest (60 mins). Punch down. Let rest (45 minutes). Bake for 30 minutes @ 350.



Let rest again for 30 minutes, allowing bread to cool.



I just snuck a piece and found my homemade wheat bread to be a bit 'doughy'. I'm thinking I didn't cook it long enough. I think I'll try Focaccia bread next.
